PRACTICE SUMMARY

 

Mr. Cogill is an associate at Klintworth and Rozenblat IP. Mr. Cogill has over eleven years of experience in the patent law field both in private practice and as an Examiner at the USPTO. Mr. Cogill focuses his practice on preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the mechanical and electromechanical arts. Mr. Cogill has counseled clients in various patent issues including prior art search, design-around strategy, preparation of validity and freedom to operate opinions, reexamination requests, cease-and-desist letters, and litigation support. Leveraging his experience from the USPTO, Mr. Cogill has particular expertise working cooperatively with patent examiners throughout the application process and handling patent applications in crowded technologies.

 

Mr. Cogill has prepared and prosecuted in excess of 500 patent applications from a variety of applicants and clientele from Fortune 500 companies to individual inventors. Representative technology fields in which Mr. Cogill has experience include: Vehicle Powertrain Components, Agricultural Vehicles, Automotive Aftermarket Parts and Accessories, Orthopedic Devices, Bicycle Components, Cutting Tools, Textiles, Packaging, Backpacks, Pipe Coupling, and Semiconductor Fabrication.

 

Prior to joining Klintworth and Rozenblat IP, Mr. Cogill was an associate at the IP boutique law firms of Kim Winston LLP (now Kim IP) and Volpe and Koenig, P.C.

REPRESENTATIVE PATENT PROSECUTION EXPERIENCE


Mr. Cogill has represented a wide variety of clients, including clients ranging from large fortune global 100 companies and start-ups to mid-size businesses and individual inventors. Representative clients include the following:

■ Represents a venerable name in the agriculture industry to secure patent rights for work vehicles and related equipment in the construction, forestry, and agricultural industries to secure.

■ Represented a leading global manufacturer of rolling element bearings and vehicle components in patent application preparation and prosecution.

■ Represented a large domestic automotive aftermarket supplier in patent matters including patent procurement, prosecution, response to infringement contentions, and litigation support.


■ Represented a Global 100 conglomerate in patent prosecution for a variety of technologies including disk drives, information storage media, automotive systems, and valves.

■ Represented a global conglomerate in patent prosecution for technologies including cutting tools, automotive components, and printer heads.
